Access to clean water and indoor plumbing is a widespread issue in Native communities and the Gila River Community is one of many that has been fighting for decades for their rights to clean water. The Gila River Project is a fictional non-profit dedicated to bringing indoor plumbing to the Gila River Indian Community in Arizona. The Gila River Project works with local plumbers and contractors to help install indoor plumbing in the homes of members of the community for free. Home to the Akimel O’otham (Pima) and the Pee-Posh (Maricopa), they have lived in this area for hundreds of years. This brand system takes inspiration from the pottery traditions of the Maricopa, the pattern elements in the logo were also designed to emulate the patterning on their pottery. The pottery functions as a vessel for the water rushing out from it while the waves of the water cradle the pottery like a hand.
